Carolina Bay Series

In these prints, the images are from film and digital photos that I took in the Bladen County area in south east North Carolina. The files were imported into Photoshop, converted to greyscale, adjusted by eye for full contrast, reduced the blacks in Curves down to about 85%, printed at 1440 dpi with black ink only on posjet transparency, etched in 42º Baume ferric for 9-10 minutes. Some plates have minor scrape/burnish and roulette. I wanted to keep hand work to a minimum to keep the image photograpic and proof of the subject matter. The origin of these Bays is yet to be determined and the mystery that surrounds this phenomena I find fascinating on many levels.
